Illamasqua Chevrons

I had a delivery! My Sparkly Nails vinyls came this week, so you all know that I had to have a go with them :) They have quite a few different designs and I chose five of them.... to start with!

Today I am using the Relaxed Chevron vinyls, with Illamasqua polishes Load (cream, base colour); Noble (blue) and Rare (yellow) and the Barry M black nail art pen to finish - 

I am pretty pleased with how this mani came out. Clearly I need more practice with the nail art pen (They look great from afar!) but overall I like the design, and I am happy with my eventual colour choices (I went through quite a few before I landed on these).

Models Own Hyper Gel Zig Zag Mani.

Friday again! Wahoo!

Today I have had, surprisingly, another play with my nail vinyls. You guys will tell me when you get bored of seeing them won't you?!

This is the mani that I was going to try when I first received the vinyls in the post. However, when I had a go with them and it didn't work out I gave up on these polishes and the vinyls for a while! After a few goes using them though, I got more and more in to the swing of using them and decided to re-visit my original idea...

The polishes I used are all by Models own and part of their Hyper Gel range. The shades are, Cornflower Blue (the palest blue, used as the base colour); Blue Glint (turquoise) and Inky Blue (navy) - 

I am definitley happy with how these (finally) turned out! I especially enjoy the effect of the moving navy zig zag, though I think the effect would have had more of a wow-factor if I had used a contrasting colour such as a coral in it's place.

Color Club Halo Hues

I can't quite get my head round the fact that it's the last week in May?! This year is just flying by...

This fine Tuesday I am excited to share a couple of swatches of the Color Club Halo Hues. You may remember my swatches of the Pastel Neons which I posted a couple of weeks ago? I purchased these two beauties at the same time, and I have been completely dying to post them!

So on to the swatches :) I have two of the Halo Hues to share. First up is Harp On It, this one is your standard silver holo, if there is such a thing as standard when it comes to holographics!! Two coats -

And Over The Moon, a vivid blue holo, and obviously my favourite of the two! Two coats as well -

I mean who doesn't love a holographic polish?! The formula's on these two colours was really great. Smooth, opaque and just generally easy to work with. I will defintely be adding more of them to my collecion :)

OPI Glitter Off Peelable Base Coat

Welcome back everyone, I hope you're all having the best weekend :)

Today I have a review of the OPI Glitter Off Peelable Base Coat, designed to aid in the removal of glitter nail polish. 

As we all know, glitter nail polishes are the worst to remove! You can work away for hours with the standard nail polish remover / cotton ball method, and who's got time to wrap their fingers in tin foil for 10 minutes, only to have to go back in with remover again at the end?! 

The OPI Glitter Off ensures that you can just peel away the polish without the fuss, time and effort that it usually entails. 

Now, is this base coat just expensive PVA glue? Well that depends on whether you are just swatching or whether you're wearing a mani for a while. If you've ever tried using PVA glue, you'll know that it works well if you're just having a glitter polish swatch fest. But if you plan on wearing your polish for any longer than just a swatch, I would highly recommend using a specialist base coat such as the OPI Glitter Off. You wouldn't know the difference until it comes to removal.

To start with, apply the thinnest coat of the Glitter Off as possible. The thicker the coat you apply, the longer it will take to dry. But if you can get a thin enough coat, it will only take a minute or two to fully dry. Just like PVA, the Peelable Base Coat goes on a milky white colour and dries to a transparent finish.

Then apply your chosen polish as normal.

Next take an orange wood stick, or your other nails or something that can scrape, and push the polish off the surface of the nail like so - 

You can also go from the sides of the nail. Choose a technique that works for you :)

Finally, use a nail polish remover and cotton ball the remove any remnants of the base coat that may have stuck to the nail.

Overall, I would highly recommend the OPI Glitter Off Peelable Base Coat. No more hours spent trying to remove those stubborn glitter polishes. Or picking at them like I used to(!). No more glitter wiped all over your fingers when trying to swatch. I must say I feel like this product is something that I can't be without!!

Orly Sugar High Kitchen Sink Mani!

Happy Friday polish people! Another week is over, and this is probably my most favourite weekend of the year because tomorrow it's Eurovision!! My best friend and I have made it a tradition to get together for Eurovision, eat loads of bad food, have a few drinks and just have a merry old time :-) Hopefully GB will do a bit better than last year... Anyway, if you're a fan of Eurovision, come follow me on Twitter so we can talk about it!

Today's mani is brought to you by the Orly Sugar High mini's that I swatched a few weeks ago. I wanted to have another play with the colours as I think they all work together so well.

The colours are Sweet Dreams (taupe-y brown); Key Lime Twist (highlighter green); Cake Pop (pale pink) and Candy Shop (mauve-y purple).

My favourite nail I think is the ring finger, as since I finally figured out vinyls I am completely obsessed with them! I do also love the combination of the colours in the dottient on the index finger. Like I said, I think all four colors included in this mini kit compliment each other perfectly and I am excited to keep experimenting with them :-)

Chanel Summer '15 - Collection Mediterranee

It's Tuesday again already! I am feeling good about the blog at the minute, I am hopefully about two weeks away from reaching 50,000 page views :-) I am hoping to co-ordinate a giveaway for my lovely readers, so stay tuned for that!

So onto today's blog, I have swatches of the new Chanel Summer collection for 2015, Collection Mediterranee. Launched on May the 8th, the collection, inspired by the 1920's French Riviera, features four brand new shades which give that sun-kissed Mediterranean feel.

So lets get swatching!

Colours from L-R, 697 Terrana; 707 Mediterranee; 717 Coquelicot and 727 Lavanda

First swatch is of 697 Terrana, a metallic brown with a pink undertone and a really unique shade. I don't think that I own anything else like this. I'm wearing two coats - 

Next is 607 Mediterranee, a gorgeous sea blue creme. (This polish does lean slightly more green than my camera was able to pick up) Only one coat needed here - 

Third up is 617 Coquelicot, which translates to 'poppy' and I can't think of a better word to describe it!! Again, this creme polish only needed one coat - 

And finally, 627 Lavanda. A bright purple creme using two coats - 

I have to say I am so impressed with these polishes. I'm not sure if they've played with the ingredients but the blue (Mediterranee) and the red (Coquelicot) especially, have probably the best formula's I've ever used. Those two are the reason I will keep going back and paying silly prices for nail polish!! Even wth one coat, the application was so smooth and levelled out beautifully. Just so easy to work with.

My favourite colour is obviously Mediterranee, however I am pretty taken with all of them to be honest! I do like Terrana, as I feel like it's a colour that I haven't seen very often, if at all.

China Glaze Tongue & Chic + Galaxy Mani!

Today I have a swatch of the gorgeous Tongue & Chic by China Glaze, and late on a Galaxy mani I created using this shade as a base.

Originally released as part of the Autumn collection for 2013, Tongue & Chic is a shimmering emerald.

I am wearing two coats with a top coat in the swatches -

While swatching, I thought that this colour would make the perfect base for a Galaxy mani. I like doing them, I'm not very good at them, but on other people I think they look great!!

To create this mani, I used Models Own Cerise and Olive Colour Chromes, Chanel Paradisio, Orly Key Lime Twist, and Barry M Lemon Ice Cream.

Color Club - Poptastic Pastel Neon swatches

A little while ago, Nail Polish Direct were offering 15% off all Color Club polishes, and I would have been mental not to take advantage of that offer :) So today, I have some swatches of the Color Club Poptastic Pastel neon collection to share. I have swatched four of the seven shades for you, so lets get to it!

First up is Disco's Not Dead, a milky peach shade. Three coats.

Next is 'Til The Record Stops, a super light minty green. Two coats.

Third shade is Meet Me At The Rink, a pale icy blue. Two coats.

And finally, Under The Blacklight, a highlighter green. Three coats.

To be brutally honest, the formula on these polishes is not great. It's kinda chunky and doesn't apply particularly smoothly, not unless you apply a really thick coat. I think Meet Me At The Rink is the best for me, but I would and will definitely put up with the formula's to use these colours! 

I really can't pick a favourite, every time I look at them I choose a different one..
